Friends in India

India

We fund the costs of  a local day centre and creche in  a refugee camp in the Tamil Nadhu region at the southern tip of India. This pays the staff and maintainance costs which includes a meal for the children attending the creche.

This is a tea growing area with many refugees from former Ceylon and where living conditions are difficult.

Building homes

We have recently funded a new house building programme for those with no or poor accommodation. A one roomed house costs £150.00 – so far we, and friends of the church, have funded 50 houses.

Moon - in Delhi

Moon is a social worker working near Delhi in India. Some of the money we have given her has been used to pay half the costs of eye operations and for rent for a home for two girls whose home was bulldozed by the government. Most of our money has been spent on a 'Mutual Health Scheme' to help fund the costs of health care when people fall ill.

Recently her father died (March 2010) - we send her our love.

Before - a typical 'home'

After - the proud owners of a new home
